| Hard drive failure |
Can usually be diagnosed by the sound of constant
ticking (death rattle) as the hard drive "head" crashes against the revolving
discs. The problem with this tale is that not only does the drive have to be replaced but
so does the OS. There is also a labour charge for removing and replacing the hard
drive. |

| Broken Laptop screen |
We are usually able to replace Mac
screens. However, in many cases replacing the screen is much more labour
intensive than doing the same job on a non-Mac laptop and
therefore more expensive. Nevertheless, we would usually expect to be
considerably cheaper than a competing Apple repair centre |
Let us quote |
Doesn't
Power up |
Mac fails to turn on. Usually caused by blown power
supply unit (PSU). New PSU needed (Cost of PSU plus £30 labour).
Warning! In cases when the PSU is blown - whatever caused the PSU to blow (ie power surge)
can sometimes destroy other parts of the Mac inluding the motherboard, processor and hard
drive. It is not the norm - mostly just blows the PSU but...

| Big Bang! |
The most common cause for a loud bag is the wrong
voltage. Happens, most commonly when a computer is imported from North America and the
user has forgotten to change the voltage (usually there is a small red voltage selector on
the back of the computer). In many cases the bang just blows the power supply unit but
occasionally it also blows the motherboard and other bits as well. Please note- When
booking in a repair it is the customer's responsibility to advise us if a PC is set to run
on 110v - when we start work on a computer we assume it is set to run on 240v and will not
check the voltage regulator unless we have been pre warned. |

| Backup |
If your hard drive fails, the data can be retrieved but
in some cases this involves specialist equipment and can cost several hundreds of pounds.
We do not carryout such work However, in many cases although the drive is inoperable, data
can be retrieved relatively easily and we can help |
£30 for first 4gb of data. £15 for every 4gb
thereafter |
| Storage Charges |
We have limited space and cannot be expected to store
items for longer than 3 months. When booking in an item for repair customers will be asked
to sign a booking form which states that any equipment left with us for longer than 3
months will be recycled. When we have completed our work we will advise you. At this
point, customers are requested to promptly collect their equipment - remember - after 3
months your equipment will be recycled and you will not be able to reclaim it. |
Free for the first 3 months, thereafter £1 per day until it is recycled |
